User Conference 6-7th July 2010

SMART held its Annual User Conference 2010 on the 6th and 7th July, at the Radcliffe Training & Conference Centre, near Coventry. The event was split into two days to enable topics to be streamed to meet the needs of both our Commercial and NHS customers.

The event was an opportunity for the SMART and HMT customers to get together following the acquisition of the two organisations in December 2009. With a combined wealth of knowledge and experience we were pleased to be able to offer an informative and enjoyable event that would help all customers to get the most out of their workforce management systems.

Session topics at the conference included: benefits realisation, learning through case studies offering the chance to find out how other organisations have run their projects and achieved benefits along with a chance to see what our partner organisations could offer to help delegates to make the best use of their resources.

Day one – this day was set aside for our Commercial customers. Our main plenary session consisted of presentations from Clive Hull from Rolls-Royce, speaking on the subject of ‘Global Scheduling of Field Service Engineers’ and Graham McFarland from British Gypsum presenting on the use of ‘eHL at British Gypsum’.

In the afternoon, delegates were free to choose which breakout session they wished to attend. Other guest speakers included Ian Blinkhorn from Spirit Aerosystems and John Thornewill from Realflair.

In the evening, we invited both our Commercial and NHS customers to join us for a three course meal followed by a wine-tasting quiz.

Day two – was the turn for the NHS.. Our main plenary session included presentations from Brenda Blackett of Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust speaking about ‘eRostering and Benefit Realisation’ and Julia Tybura from Zenon Consulting discussing ‘Change Management’.

Afternoon breakout sessions included talks from Rachel Barton of The Dudley Group of Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust offering ‘Hints & Tips for a Successful eRostering Implementation’ and from our partners within our ‘NHS Workforce Solutions Community’. These included presentations on: ‘eRostering forJunior Doctors’ presented by Zircadian, ‘Expenses Management’ presented by Software Europe and ‘NHS Temporary Worker Recruitment Manager Tool’ presented by Skillstream.

The feedback from delegates, partners and staff was really positive. Thank you to everyone that attended the event, we feel it was a huge success. We will certainly be putting on a similar event next year.
